Spin Tutorial: Recoloring custom objects.

TUTORIAL: Recoloring Downloaded Objects by Damian

You need:

*SimPE : could be get at: www.sims.ambertation.de
*Photoshop or other Image's program: get at www.adobe.com (Downloads/Photoshop)

1- First of all we are going to open SimPE (modern look) and click on Tools/Object Creation/ Object workshop (VERY IMPORTANT!: No click on windowed!)

2- Now we can observe that an right menu appeared! we're going to click on ''OPEN''. And then Select the package wich corresponds with the object that you want to recolor. For this tutorial I'm going to recolor the bed from one of my sets.

3- Now our menu will deseapear for a bit of time. After that time the object workshop will stay at the right part of your monitor again. If not, please click in the object workshop's button at right (image)

4-OK Now select the ''recolor'' task at the object workshop. click on FINISH.

5-Save your package at the Downloads folder (My Documents/EA Games/Downloads). our package will be automatically opened with simPE now. ;)

6- Our package is now opened with simPE. Ok, First of all, please go at the resource tree/ Texture Image/ and select the archive wich corresponds the texture of the object (normally is the one wich hasn't got ''shadows or alpha'' in its name). Mine is:

''benidorm-carlo-bed-honyoak-txtr''

7- Go down to the plugin-view windown (if you dont have it at your view, please click on windown/plugin view) and select the most bigger texture of the menu and click on export :D (image) .Then export your image (dont have to be Downloads folder). One advise: Its more better to create a folder for your texture's recolors at ''My images folder'' in My documents.

8- Open Adobe photoshop and open the exported Image of the 7's step (the image is in the folder that you've create or where you have save your exported image). For that go to File/Open/Your folder/your image exported.png . And click OPEN (abrir)

9- Now our texture is open, but we need to edit it! for that we will go to google-images (http://images.google.com) and we're going to search what we want! Now in this tutorial I'm searching for some ''wenge'' texture. So I've search for wenge in google and I've found this:

*Now copy the image clicking with the right button of your mouse in the image and select: COPY.

10-Now We're going to see sometime our exported image, as we can see with my image all is white, this is because my object is wite and the wite part corresponds to the object's texture. If I want to recolor the white from my object I have to edit these white part in my exported image.
For edit it I'm going to select the MOVE TOOL and I'm going to click CRTL+V for copy the image. (be sure that the show transforms controls is checked)

*Now we can observe that our image is too big for the texture, dont worry, we can re-modelate it with the MOVE TOOL clicking on the corners of the selection and moving our image (for move push all time your left button of your mouse the corner and move away!).(if your image is big use the navigator (at right))

11- For finish editing our texture we're going to select the rectangular marquee tool and we're going to click on APPLY BUTTON.

12- Now go to the layer's window, click on right button in the ''Layer 2'' and click MERGE VISIBLE . As we can see my image is really light and awful! for do it more nice we're going to go to the:
Image's menu/Adjustements/Brightness and contrast. With this tool we can change the brightness and contrast of our image. (have a look at our last image)

13- Now go to File/Save and save your image. (re-write the exported image in SIMPE!)

14- Now we can close photoshop and we have to open othertime simPE. Open the recolor package created at simPE of the step 5! (in your downloads folder). Go to the Texture Images of the step , click on the bigest image and CLICK THIS TIME IN IMPORT!, NOW SELECT THE SAVED IMAGE! (OR RE-WRITED)

15- Right click on the image with our mouse and click on 'Update all sizes'

16- Now click on commit. Then click on File/Save and close simPE. Our package has been created, now we're going to see it at the sims 2!

17- this is the view at Sims 2!

Feel free to post here questions and problems!!!!

DP: I did this tutorial because I didn't see any tutorial of how make recolor packages step by step. I hope be right and haven't made other tutorial of recoloring! Also please I'm so sorry for my english... I made this tutorial very fast and I hadn't many time for revise and correct it
