    Default Sims 3 Request

    Howdy and Hello
I have a Information for dummies request ( me being the dummy who needs the info lol)
I was wondering if any one out there who has mastered the recoloring of cc objects through sco3+ texture tweaker and aslo through TSR workshop could kindly make tutorials written in simple terms, I have saved and tried all the tuts out there that I have found....OM's...TSR...mod the sims....but these all use game objects as there example and as far as I can decipher don't give any clues on how to do CC objects, I have had success in recoloring a cc painting but I am afraid it was a fluke cus when I went to do another one with a diff mesh I received error messages following the same exact steps as before when I had success, another thing is I have read on how to add instances to a painting but not how to remove them and last but not least please please please someone explain the dang camera to me, how do you take pics of 2 stories at a time ?? alls i get is the night sky in my loft areas, and I swear one time trying to navigate the camera I ended up in the neighbors tolit lol I'm surprised I get any useable pics at all.
See I didn't want much did I lol

There are no recolor tutorials for the Sims 3 because you can recolor almost anything in game, no need for tutorials.

To remove an instance is the same than to add one, in TSR workshop you go to the texture tab (drop down list) and delete the instances you don't want.

To take a pic of 2 stories, you mean inside? The best way is to move a Sim in, you will have more control over the camera.

Ty Doris for the tips but I do have one more question lol I have an example here of what I'm talking about for recoloring if it is done in game then what it is is just a pattern they added an not a recoloring? The stool and the chest of drawers

the difference from what the tuturials in MTS and TSR ( where they clone an actual in-game object) is:

Open TSRW> Create New Project> New Import> Browse >then go to the place where your file you want to edit is> click on the 2nd drop down menu and choose either .package or sims3pack (According to the type of file you're editing) then open
and voila the rest should be as any other re-coloring tutorial

but if you're using MTS's programs, i guess you open S3pe and choose open package and choose it from the directory then work on it ( its not that complicated since you already do the same with a cloned object from the game using S3oc)

    Hope i could be a help =)

    Hioh!
There could be a little bit of snafu sometimes with working with objects made with different programs... Specifically meaning that many *.package files created with s3oc and s3pe will not clone with TSR workshop. I've run into this problem too many times... The tutorial directions for s3oc and s3pe should be the same whether it's for an in game object or a cc object, *except* that instead of searching for the in-game object to clone, you would just open the custom package file the s3oc and clone it, then follow all the rest of the same directions provided. Sorry Salma, but Teresa you shouldn't open a custom package file with s3pe without cloning it first or you're going to be making changes to the original package (unless that's what you want to do).
Teresa, many times when you have an object like you've pictured above, the creator has made an 'overlay' instead of making styable texture variations, in which case if you clone with Workshop, you can 'duplicate' the overlay variation and replace it with the recolor(s) you desire...
Doris is right, the only way to get the most control over your camera is to use a space occupied by a Sim.
Hope that makes sense and you find it helpful!

ETA: I'm not trying to be a took (really I'm not!) but this question would probably be best served, and answers best serve others if it was posted in the Creativity Corner>Creativity Support sub-forum...
