Over the last few months, at least three people have been robbed per week outside my school. We are starting to get tired of having to watch our backs every time we walk outside the building and checking the surroundings for possible dangers.
It appears that the police only works for writing parking tickets here. Officers are not allowed to show their gun to any criminal unless he/she is hurting someone. All they can do is to yell "Stop! Police" and wait for the attacker to react. Are you serious?
The robbers are known to be minors who live in a slum about 50 miles away from the school and always hang out on the park across the street.
Everyone has to walk about 300m to get to the avenue were cars are allowed to park and cabs can be taken. Almost all muggings happen on those 3 blocks.
The worst case was a mother who was intercepted when she was getting into her car and forced to drive the robbers to her house where they took almost all the valuables they could. Yes, they are armed and most of the time under the effect of drugs such as paco (sort of like cheap crack) and glue.
If the police ever caught them hurting someone and arrested them, they would be forced to release them after one hour thanks to the new convivence code this f***ing corrupt government has created to protect the scum of society.
If they KILL someone, all they get is a year of HOUSE ARREST because they were minors under the effect of drugs.
We just don't know what to do! Private security was hired but all the employees can do is to stand there and look (If they even dare to touch one of the criminals they are taken to trial and judged as child abusers) so there seems to be no apparent pacific solution to this issue.
