I don't really know what honor is anymore

Sorry for the random rant, but I really need to get this off my chest.

In my country we've always been old fashioned and not so long ago it was thought that actresses were sluts. Yes, I know that's ridiculously stupid but it's just the way it was.

As some of you may know, my mother is an actress. I've never had any problems so far until this year when this kid started spreading rumours about my mother being a prostitute (in the literal way, you know, charging for "services") and the worst part is some believed him. He never dared to say that to my face. At first I managed to tolerate it for a few days but then, he finally came to me and said my mother was a dishonorable person and that everything she ever achieved was a product of selling her body.

I broke his nose. I know it's terribly wrong but what would have you done in my position? Tell the teacher? I'm in highschool for god's sake. Luckily all I got was a sanction (basically a note in a piece of paper no one really cares about)

But what upsets me the most is that few years ago, when this kid entered my school he behaved normally, but one year later his lifestyle suddenly got better and automatically he started treating people badly, disrispecting teachers and adults and acting like everyone was his servant.

How does one manage to go from living in a small apartment and driving an old golf to living in a ph and driving an S class?

Turns out his father smuggles electronics and DRUGS into the country. (Illegally of course) and the worst part is he bragged about it in a PTA meeting. Yes, you read correctly, a freaking PTA meeting.

When I tried to "clear" the rumour and told everyone the truth about his mysterious lifestyle improvement I was told that at least it was more dignifying than being an actress.

Are you SERIOUS? Since when being a narc and a smuggler is more honourable than acting in the movies and earning your money and buying everything you have on a honest way.

I'm just so mad right now.

Aww franco..I totally understand you..In a such situation my reaction would be exactly the same!!...and I would probably broke more than his noze..lol...
I think in all country some works have a bad reputation ..that's ridiculous but that's so!!....and nothing will kill the rumor!!....but in my country what we say is "we are soiled by the mud " .... or...."the slime of toad does not reach the white dove".... be an actress has really nothing dishonorable...no job is disgraceful.there are no stupid jobs .. but only stupid people....

Well what a nasty piece of work is he! I agree with Martine, I would have rearranged his face. How can being an actress be so unsavoury? Do the people of your country think all actresses over the world are the same? If so, they are to be pitied for their extremely small mindedness. Be very proud of your Mother and to hell with them

Franco, you have every right to be very proud of your mother and what she has achieved, it sounds like there is a lot of small minded and jealous people around. Stick your nose up in the air at them all and yes you did right in giving him a good thump, big hugs judith.

I'm generally "a supporter" of the nonviolence but today, I believe I'm going to make an exception...

I don't know where you live (anyway, it doesn't matter) but I find that this behavior is scandalous and I admit I don't understand exactly in what the fact of being actress is a dishonor (I'm even more shocked that I'm a film buff and I deeply admire the actresses).

Forget fast this individual, it's not worth it that we are interested in him and be sure you can be very proud of your mother. I would conclude with a quote that I dig up in my readings:

"Always to look in the air, towards this immense, infinite sea, of ****heads who were not worth it but who, for geometrical reasons, looked, gross error, to know more than him."

I agree 100% with everything said above. Sure one shouldn't resort to violence blah blah blah but sometimes you just do what you gotta do! Sounds the guy totally deserved so good for you sticking up for your mother! Hopefully he'll learn to keep his mouth shut now!

It is so hard for me to believe that it is 2012 and such ignornce still exists! I'm 63 and I have seen a lot of stupidiy out of human 's and it still amazes me that we still act like this.
Just as you are proud of your Mother (and you should be!) she has every right to be proud of you!
I don't like violence either, but I believe if your going to act like an a##, then expect to be treated like one!
I truly feel sorry for that kid, for him to be raised to believe that drug smuggling is honerable, is disgusting and a shame!

Look at it this way, he probably did that to you because he feels so low and worthless in his own mind he had to look for someone other people might think is lower than he is to make himself look bigger and more important. Inside he still knows he's less than you. And his actions prove he is.

Ah leave this story behind, you were right to react as you did,mentalities are corrupted everywhere, everybody has false jugements taught by standards we believe they are good to follow nowadays whereas they are terrible for us.
Everything because Narcos have a lot of money, beautiful cars, their children integrate the better schools of the country or of the world,their womans are beautiful bombs, and they have huge modern houses some of them are influent in politics and economics areas and the others are starving , living in favelas and askong for their salaries increases
Be proud of your mum she has lucky to do a dream job,she raises you far away from violence and crime narcos always do, feel lucky and enjoy your life.
Don't listen to this deviilish people who always take advantage of the drug addiction and they kill people everyday due to drug overdose ,they are harmful.
