Default Is this a problem with my mesh, or one of the textures?

So, I tried to make my first mesh today after doing Jonesi's tutorial (which is AWESOME!). It's way too large which I'm going to fix, but there's also a spot where the pattern messes up:

It's right on the bunny's butt.

Also, there's a small gap in in the back of the bookend that I didn't see in Milkshape:

Is there any way to fix that? Thanks in advance for any help

Hey! That is looking great already!! As for the bunny, that looks to be something in your UVmapping, You could redo that. The gap could be texture, but i'd have to see the .obj and textures to be sure.

Thank you for the quick reply! This is my current UV map:

Do you see anything obvious that I should be avoiding?

Everything looks fine except the bunny and bookend is mapped too close to each other, I would leave a bit of a gap so you can more easily work with your RGB mask.
I think that is why you have that white line on your bookend, it's not properly covered by the RGB mask.

Why your bunny has the texture screwed up on it's bottom (and it's only on one site) I can't really say unless you upload the .obj file like Angela suggested.

Thanks guys! Here's my .obj for the project . Off to work on the UV mapping. Thanks again for any insight you can provide

EDIT - Oh, and it's not actually a white line on the wood part. It's a gap where you can see in between the faces of the planes. I couldn't figure out how use the box model and get the parts the right size and in the right spot, so I used the plane tool and extruded.

That is the wrong file I meant the mesh file itself, where I can check in my meshing program what the problem is.
The file you save once you have done your mesh, the .obj file. The one above is a read me only file.

Hmmm... that was the .obj that I uploaded - the one I made my high and low files from for TSRW, right? Maybe I have to zip it first before uploading? http://www.mediafire.com/?q6nbdr6s98g3c45

Dee/Angela are looking for the .obj files not the .wso files from the workshop. The .obj files are the ones you save from your meshing program itself as .obj files. In Milkshape open your mesh and export as a .obj file, the mesh prior to working with the .wso files. I am assuming you have the mesh saved as .obj file for mapping purposes? That is the file you want to package and post a link to.

I don't mesh in Milkshape, I just use it for the necessary steps for S3...so my input probably wouldn't matter much but as for the wood base...

I would have started with the base, added vertices on the end, sized to the correct width and then extruded just the top piece of that area to the correct height. However, it also would depend on how I planned to map. The vertical piece I would have made with a vertical grain and the bottom piece would have a horizontal grain, making the appearance of two pieces. So in my Wings program I would have done what I explained already, then duplicate the piece. On one piece I would highlight the vertical area and delete it, leaving the horizontal piece. On the other piece I would highlight the horizontal area and delete it. Now I'd have two pieces that line up and and map each piece. You have to hide the piece you are not working with...and once done with that un-hide them.

I got it, I will take a look and let you know.

Edit: I can't open this file in TSR Workshop to look at the textures, maybe you can upload the workshop (wrk) file, but I looked at your mesh and I don't see a problem with your bunny, so it has to be the textures.

I also checked the UV map and it's not just mapped too close together but to close to the edge of the map.

Can't tell you anything more until I see the workshop file.

I have it now too. Will take a look as well.

Ok: The gap in your "wood" is actually something in the mesh, Maybe you deleted an edge that created this. (or because it's planes)

Inside the red box you can see the gaps in the 3Dmesh itself.

What 3D program are you meshing with? Milkshape or Wings?
