I won't be getting this EP because the social aspect of it bothers me, that and all other items should have been in Late Night. To quote Jarsie9 at the EA TS3 Official forums:

But it's more than just the social network stuff that people should be concerned about. What people should be concerned about is that Simport changes our game from the single-player experience that we've been used to playing, to a cooperative player experience where players are required to rely on other players to complete goals with them.

My sims game is my time to get away from it all. I don't share my sims, I don't want them socialized and I'm not interested in playing sims as an MMO.

EA's said you can turn off that option. Great ... but according to GuruSnelson at the TS3 Official Site Forums:

SimPort is a complimentary experience that in no way diminishes the stories you can tell about your Sims rise to fame, should you choose not to participate. There are special rewards, however, for those who send their Sims on tour through SimPort, such as unlocking new stage props, backgrounds and costumes to make even more unique stories possible for your Sims. It is Showtime after all!

So if I don't "participate" I'm penalized for not "socializing" my sims. This whole EP's leaving a really bad taste in my mouth.

Wait a couple of months and it'll be in the Store which will be a lot cheaper than buying a whole EP for 1 item

I'm kinda bummed out. It sounds so similar to Late Night. I really wanted something different. It looks awesome but not as great as something new could be :-/

While there are some things I want with this EP like the pool tables and magic the more I here the less I like, I am beginning to feel like they are forcing things on us (yes EA "Says" we will be able to disable them with an in-game button but we know how well that worked for usage-sharing and shop-mode since half the time disabling it doesn't work) like in-game product placement (new with Patch 1.29) and social networking that members of the community told them we didn't want from the very first beta-tests and Creators Camps for TS3. Given the nightmare that the Sims 1, 2 and 3 Exchanges became in terms of bad CC, other peoples mods and hacks, and the 97 million mailbox and stair recolors that came attached to lots at the Ts2 Exchange, I can only imagine how bad things are going to get now that our Sims can be exported into other people's games with the click of a button. The new "social networking feature" is going to end up being a customer service nightmare for EA and for Simmers who find their game is suddenly borked for no reason.

If I wanted Social Networking and product placement as part of my life simulation gaming experience I would have started out playing Second Life, not the Sims and if I want task oriented cooperative gaming I will go play Warcraft, Maple Story or LOTR online
The Sims is a virtual sandbox/dollhouse which is why most of us with the exception of some newer Simmers who have never been exposed to anything but TS3 (cause they never played Ts1 or Ts2) expect out of the Sims series. I don't think I will be buying this or any other Sims EP's (or anything else developed by EA or subsidiaries) except used on Ebay I think they have forgotten two key principles when you are a customer service oriented business a) the customer is always right, and b) if you want to continue making sales you listen to your customers and provide decent customer service and this has lost my loyalty as a customer.

Dawn, you "hit the nail on the head"!! You stated exactly what I think..and then some. :hohoho
But, one question about the new patch 1.29 (cuz I already did it, aghhh!!!!).
What EXACTLY did they do with that "in-game product placement"??? Damn I missed that part when reading the "fixes, etc"... I already have it set to not allow Store use while playing. How the heck can it bother you WHILE playing?? What the heck???
I hope I am misunderstanding this...
Does it make any difference if you play game with your internet disconnected?
(cuz I do that...they "phone home" all your PC specs, info, what you have in game...)

1.29 will enable Store Items via Shop Mode in your collections and build/buy folders. You can read about it here The main problem is that for some people the Shop Mode and Usage Sharing options do not work properly, EA has not fixed it ever and even when they un-checks those options, they will open up their game and find the buttons re-checked. Meaning the game is phoning home even though they don't want it to. Playing offline does prevent that so you shouldn't have any problem with it. The main problem will be for people who play via the Origin manager or Steam since I do believe you need to be online to access the games.

Yeah I'm not liking the social aspects of the game the more I'm hearing about it either. I was particularly angry at seeing that Ea is now displaying our Ea Ids on our profiles on the ts3 off site luckily mine didn't show up on it. I found out later why mine wasn't showing up though. If I wanted people knowing my info and if I wanted to be social I'd of added it in my profile myself. When I'm playing Sims or any game for that matter I don't want to be social and chit chatty in my game. If I wanted that I'd play an MMO. Actually with Steam you need the program running,but you can go into offline mode. I dunno about origin as I don't use origin very often.

Hate the social aspects more than words can convey...but whatever...its not like EA cares. As long as people flock like sheep & buy it, they won't care what the rest of us think of how they are killing the game.
I have Origin ONLY because that's the only way I have WA for now
(digital-need to buy the disc soon, esp since I have all the others on disc already).
AND so I don't have to wear out BD drive or game discs.
(so in future if they stop online support my discs wont be all scratched & dead)
Origin does try to get you to find others online, & chat etc..but I have that all unchecked with options AND have me logged in as "offline" permanently.
I never even open it anyway, except when my launcher tells me updates are needed. And I only use launcher to install S3pks or check for updates occasionally. To play game I go offline & use direct game exe file to start (no Origin or Launcher). I only use things as needed, :hohoho
In other words, you DO NOT need to be online to play your games even if you have Origins digital copies of games.

..after the first exitation...my playfulness for the new extension has completely disappeared..!!..looking closer not sure this was a really great thing to play online!...and when some of you said that If we want to play in social..we just have to play to FB's games or to online games!!...and this is not the first interest from the sims!!So..I think I will wait for a new interesting one!..and let this one on the side for now!!

Er do you know the new ? Katy Perry collaborates with EA of making scene objects ....God saves the sims ! Except some great stuffies like the giant fruits or the stack of cupcakes.
A lot of people doesn't bear her art and her songs...poor us ! And why not Gaga for a matter ... loool, *yuck*
Well I only write my opinion, I respect Katy Perry's fans before all.Lucky them to play with their idol universe.
