Number of Downloads??? [So curious about, please help.]

i have 14.75 gig of downloads and i took a heap out ahahah

I decided to do a major ovehaul of my downloads folder. So I took everything out of the game and then organized it adding everything I had from my zips and rars. I nearly fell off the chair when I saw the total of what I have!!! Over 40GB and 125,000 files. My game won't run with anything like that amount. I have to pear it down to about 3.5GB. UGGG!

hehehe, we all have similar problems. We have been recently changing pc sp i said to my bf, please buy the one that will support sims 2, he asked me the how demanding was my game, wll i replied very demanding and then gave him of free space required if you could see expression on his face )).

anyway, what i do is i keep the extra big files (houses with cc in it) and part of my downloads at the external disc, from time to time I just exchange or add some new downloads to my game. 125,000 thats quite a number!!!!

Yeah, around 50 GB. You can tell that my PC hates me when I start the game. The specs of my computer are actually very good for Sims. Got 1 TB space and 6.00 GB RAM, but the downloads make the game just non-playable. Right now I only use it for contests, photos and fun. Actually I was up to play again. I planned to clean up the DLs and files. I really wanted to play again. But, so far, I didn't. I'm honestly overstrained with all those files. It freakes me out. LOL Seriously. It drives me totally nuts. 100.000 is definitely too much.

I get intimidated just with 15GBs. I've tried to clean it before, but I just ended up putting it all back in because I was so attached to it..of course this just made my folder an even bigger mess >:(

DAMN! 50GB! That's crazy! I'm up to 13.8GB now with just under 40,000 files, with that number growing daily.We definitely need a support group.

And @ Christina, I totally understand what you mean.
Sims downloads are definitely something that makes you addicted to it. I remember in the beginning, when I started to play Sims 2 on my laptop...that PC was so unqualified and with such a lame graphic card, I only played the base game with the first 3 expansion packs. No accessory packs were possible, and I had only a couple of low or middle poly downloads. Everytime the Sims opened the fridge, the game stopped for around 1 or 2 minutes. Everytime the light changed, daytime to nighttime and back, the game stopped for 1 or 2 minutes. The longer the game was running the longer were the time I had to wait for simple interactions. And now, with my gaming computer, I totally went over the top with downloading. It was like someone would give a woman $200.000 and leaves her alone in a boutiqe for shoes and handbags. LOL You know what I mean? I thought I need every download that looked nice to me. And what's the result? A bunch of different files, 50 GB DLs, losing the track of it...and a Fawn who goes nuts. LOL ... So, tell me, please....what would you do to solve the DL problem? And what ARE you doing against yours?

LOL @ timkibby, we really do..but since we're all addicted..we'd need a mediator..where in the world would we find one?

Actually, Fawn, I made it an effort to include a couple of tips about cleaning your downloads folder in the upcoming newsletter.

From personal experience, I have learned that if it isn't broke (not affecting your game), then don't fix it. However, if you're wanting to play again, and not wanting or feeling like waiting an hour for your game to load is worth it anymore, then it's definitely time to break down the folder. First, how long have you been collecting dl's for this folder?

The reason I ask is because when I was cleaning out my folder, I realized that I have a lot of stuff that isn't available any longer. Ie) Glamorous Lounge clothing, etc. Lots of sites have gone down and downright disappeared since I started collecting my DL folder. Granted, I've cleaned it out and restarted it at least 5 times since I've been playing TS2. After all these times of re-doing my folder, I have a really good idea of what creators I love AND what to look for in downloads (quality wise). This, my dear, is very important for cleaning out your folder.

Second, is your DL folder organized in any particular manner?

If it's not, and you just have files and folders placed anywhere and everywhere, cleaning it will be tough and organizing it will be even tougher. But what I would suggest is writing down a list of your favorite creators whose stuff you cannot live without. Most practiced creators either put their stuff in folders and/or include their name or shortened version of their name in their files. Ie) TVS-Filename or {tvs}FileName or thevintagesim-filename. (LOL not that I'm a practiced creator, but I am sure to include my site name in my DLs so people can find them, since that's what I do when I'm filtering my folder)
