Number of Downloads??? [So curious about, please help.]

Okay, now to my answers.

First, how long have you been collecting dl's for this folder?

Was that a rhetorical question? LOL Ok, goodness, I can hardly remember. But I would say since around 2 years. And I've put a lot downloads in and out, in and out.

The reason I ask is because when I was cleaning out my folder, I realized that I have a lot of stuff that isn't available any longer.

Yes, that's a big problem. I have A LOT downloads from sites that aren't online anymore. And I never have seen those CC again except for in my own archive files. And this is also a reason why I have difficulties with cleaning the files. I'm afraid I lose content that it's not available anymore.

After all these times of re-doing my folder, I have a really good idea of what creators I love AND what to look for in downloads (quality wise).

Me too. But that doesn't changes the fact that I see many other stuff from other creators where I think I can need that for my game. Sometimes I have only 1 content from a creator. But I do have my total faves. There are a couple of creators I extremely admire for making CC I love. And my Sims-life can't be without that CC. I would lose the complete fun about Sims without those special CC.

Second, is your DL folder organized in any particular manner?

YES! My DLs in my DL folder are meticulous organized. I'm seriously a neurotic perfectionist. My DL folder is organized as I would get money for that. So, that's not the problem.

See, I re-installed my Sims games several times. I wanted a new start. I've often spent a couple of days to search all my CC again and again to begin afresh...just to be sure that I won't have stuff in my game anymore that I don't want to. I've organized my folder anew every time and I used different methods to get the best result for me. I promised myself to stop at 1.000 DLs. I couldn't. Next time I promised myself to stop at 5.000 DLs. Failed. And so on and so on. Every time I start afresh, I only start with my fave downloads of my fave downloads. But I already think I need more when I start to decorate. It really seems addicted.

Wow, I never have seen so many smilies in one post. Hahahaha. ... But, yeah, I do understand 100% what you mean. Of course it IS extremely hard to resist. Oh yah. And every time you search for something new...you find 10 GB more. Goodness.

I decided to do a major ovehaul of my downloads folder. So I took everything out of the game and then organized it adding everything I had from my zips and rars. I nearly fell off the chair when I saw the total of what I have!!! Over 40GB and 125,000 files. My game won't run with anything like that amount. I have to pear it down to about 3.5GB. UGGG!

Once I get over about 45,000 files, the crashes make it impossible to use the game. I try to keep it under 40,000, just about there right now.

I note with pleasure that I 'm far from alone in search of new simsiennes! Lol
I had 47,523 files and 8GB, my game continually crash, on the advice of Elf and others, I can bring myself to part with 10 000 (do not worry, they are immune to another hard drive and even saved on CD)! very very hard! but now, it works again, wait 20 minutes and I can finally play again! I will watch not to go beyond the 40,000 files! but I keep everything and I add, remove, it's a tough nut to crack!!

A huge THANK YOU to all the new commentators and their posts. I'm very glad to see that my thread is still popular and that you all still vote and post here.
It's also a relief to see that I'm not alone with my insane bunch of DLs. I'm still at around 100.000 (50 GB) and it gets more and more. I wanna stop. I wanna stop it, really. I already don't play anymore even though I would love too. Duh. LOL

I have 7.10 GB just in my downloads folder with 31,563 files and 514 folders. LOL!
I have a little more in collections and some other folders too.
It takes about 20-25 minutes for my game to load 0_o
Also I have all EPS but no stuff packs. I wanted to install stuff packs but I lost most of my EP discs/codes so I'm up the creek if I ever want to uninstall =(

I don't bother counting, I stopped at 30k though, but my game still runs great. It used to be incredibly slow, and then the game wouldn't even start. But now that I compress and clean out the cache files in the game, I think my game knows that I do care for it. xD

Oh, and I have all EPs and SPs.
