I think that the Sims 3 is awesome! Maybe it is because I don't have any ties with the Sims 2 since my computer crashed, but I think they did the best they can.

My beef? That after what..a month? Not even that long, the game appears unbearable unless mods are used. I positive people played TS2 longer before "needing" a mod to do the most basic things.

Is this because we are mod-crazy, having so many for previous versions, or because TS3 is just really badly done.

My vote is on just really badly done.

This is what I was talking about...notice how much smoother and creamier/shiny her skin & hair are in the first pic (sorry, didn't notice she blinked dangit) and how defined her jaw line & basic face shape is versus the other 2 pics? Its not much of a difference, barely noticeable but enough that I notice...maybe I'm TOO picky, LOL, or maybe its the lighting in the CAS versus dimmer lighting in the room she's in...

Why do you need mods?! I mean I have never used mods and my game is working flawlessly. Once people begin to get custom content for the sims 3, I bet it will be more bearable for the custom content and mod obsessed. For the record, there was no way for the creators to make an even better transition than the sims1 to sims 2 transition... its impossible to beat. However, they did an excellent job of improving the overall quality of the game. Of course there are going to be kinks here and there, but they are trying to fix them, especially through the "updates" section on the Sims 3 Launcher. I guess I am ranting, but it sort of makes me upset that people keep bashing the Sims 3. The Sims 2 was amazing, especially with all of the custom content and all, but the loading screens were horrendous. At least they fixed it in this game! I just hope people begin to understand that the Sims 3 is not as horrible as they are making it out to be. Don't get me wrong, there are several things I wish could be different, but come on, lighten up. Ok done now
