Tutorial: How to install The Resource.cfg file onto your computer

Ok guys I'm having a little blond moment here, so if someone could explain this to me like a two year old I'd be so grateful! I downloaded a cfg file and a mods file from MATY which "his almighty pescado" created himself.

I thought I had installed it correctly but the game just wouldn't load....I got the intro and nothing more.

From the screenies below - I can see a cfg file in the Electronic Arts folder, not the SIMS 3 folder - as the Sims 3 folder is above the CFG file. I am so confused - In the mods folder I have the package folder and the files folder and put the mods in the package folder.

So explain as if I were a two year old :thanks:

tsss, same thing just happened to me! the game wont even start now..

I'll sign up for a "explain-to-me-as-if-I-were-a-2-year-old" course too!

The way I have it on my computer the resource.cfg file goes in the Sims 3 Folder. I also have my Mods folder in the Sims 3 folder and not in the Electronics Art Folder. Maybe try that? Good luck!

the resource.cfg goes in this C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 that is the sims 3 root folder the mods folder goes into the sims 3 root folder so it will be C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Mods\Packages. The package folder goes in the mods folder as you are creating a subfolder in the mods folder the images on the previous shows you where the resource.cfg is supposed to be as well as the Mods Folder and then the package folder

Thanks so much angelicassims and Dora, I'm on the edge right now .... still have my Sims2 ( which I love so much ) but have just bought Sims3 and really wanna give it a go ....

yeah they are but the modders are modding it so it isn't that difficult we just have to do it a different way now then the norm
