I downloaded for a sneaky peak before my preorder arrives. Few pics in the album linked to below, will add to it as and when I play a little more.

thanks Jonesi, these are great. I can't get over in how some shots the roads and landscaping looks so real! ahh I cannot wait! I was thinking of taking a sneak peek too but I'm trying to control myself.

Don`t you miss CC? It would look so great if we could decorate with all that clutter.

I've only played about three times, the first time I made a family but never played them, I just wanted to test the CAS, and I had a nose at the landscaping and took a few pics. Second time I refurbished a premade lot and tested the CFE cheat and the third I played for an hour or so.

I have to say, I really like it. CAS is really good. Obviously things could be better with CC, especially the accessories in CAS. The clothes I think are quite nifty and there's a reasonable selection and less weird stuff than in Sims 2, I like picking shoes and socks for each outfit and I love the traits.

The gameplay, for me is a lot more interesting than the sims 2 base game. Not having loading screens for community lots etc is definately a plus, I like clicking the map view, picking where I want to go and then zooming in and watching the sims go there. I had my sim go jogging along the coast road yesterday and it was so pretty to watch.

I'm not keen on the community buildings that you can't see inside of, like the cafes and bookshops, but I'm imagining they might make them playable in an EP similar to OFB. The beach is beautiful but again, I'm itching to swim in the sea and make sandcastles and I can't, again, hopefully fixable in an EP.

I haven't done much building, I made a quick house when testing the CFE cheat, which appears to work. There's not much choice within doors and windows, and not many matching styles but you can kinda get them matching by using the colour palette, in that they have the same colours.
There's some decent furniture, alot of sims 2 stuff rehashed.

I think once we're able to put our own textures into the recolour palette thingy it will be fab. All EA's textures are quite gaudy as you can imagine, so I found myself using alot of plain colours rather than textures, but its defo a step up from having to recolour everything seperately like we do for Sims 2.

I didn't miss CC too much because I was playing rather than decorating but I couldn't imagine entering a decorating contest or anything like that until we're able to import our own things into it.

One thing I found I really liked was the sims. Even though they have putty faces the bodys are so much nicer, even with Maxis skins, they look fab.
I grabbed the no censor hack and had a nose at naked sims yesterday (lol) and the body shape is much nicer and smoother in shape. No odd angles or square fingers and toes and I love the different body shapes, the fattys are fab! Oh and eyelashes, gorg and adjustable in length

The sims are quite funny too, I made a neurotic sim and she keeps freaking out which I find amusing. She went to a neighbours house and started stealing things (she's also a kleptomaniac) and then helped herself to some food and the neighbour told her she was behaving inappropriately and if she carried on, would be asked to leave!

Thanks for the feedback Nat! I am sooo excited to play this game! I tried to get a copy to preview it, but after my virus scan stopped the downloads a few times, I got too nervous to keep trying. I have already had to reload my operating system a few months ago due to a hefty virus. Don't want to go through that again.

I know you have a laptop. Were you able to load the game with Sims 2 still installed?

I don't play games on my laptop, graphics aren't good enough, both games are on my desktop and run fine, I think as long as you have enough disk space it doesn't matter what other games are installed, it's not like you'd have them both running at the same time.
