Honestly saying : removal will corrupt not just your game but also some computer data.
Whoever advised to remove secu-Rom did you think of further consequences for your computer data ? Here the point is that if you don't know about computer hard core data base, just be prudent.
And YEAH EA Games will offer no longer support for your Sims 2 (or 3) purchased DVDs or CDs or even and less downloaded from EA Store with EA Donwload Manager. Plus bad news Numenor's AnyGameStarter might not work at all and Numenor got all licenses for the Sims 2 as I know. So removal of secu-Rom : think before removing, and better twice than once ! believe me ! No more EA Games support for anything if you choose to remove secu-Rom. You're free to choose of course but just for the computer data...
Most importantly : you remove secu-Rom : you will lose all your EA Games licenses for the Sims 2 consequently. No more access to EA Games support or teh Exchange (I know no one cares much about the Exchange but I still got an account there, showing proof of the I purchased all legally with a license).
The above is very inaccurate. If you contact EA they give you a link to the removal tool and help you uninstall SecuROM, that's what they did with me. The thesims2.EA.com website itself hosts the removal tool.

Even on the BBS the Maxoids link to the removal tool.

I was thinking about this. In a way it could help keep my discs safe from my DVD RW, because sometimes it damages discs quite badly. But I am a little worried that I might end up doing more harm than good.
I must be stupid but I have no idea what is the securomand why you want to remove it .. lol
..Oki I asked my good friend google.;and now I know..lol:=))
