Played both and The Sims 3 is less fun than watching paint dry. Needless to say, I switched back to The Sims 2.

Why would you say something like this? Is this ment for decorating or actualy playing the game? In Sims 2 all you did was wake up, wash, clean, eat and sleep. Couple of interactions, and this is all. In Sims 3, you can go wherever you want. The only negative things for me, are couple of animations. I would say playing the game is realy not boring, and realy not that bad as you have put it out, and decorating is getting better with all the CC that is coming out daily. And now with the new expansion pack it will get even better playing it

I see what you're saying but TS3 has been worked down to too much of a science. Everything has been touched and has too much procedure to it and it ruins the flow of the game and most importantly the realism. The use of rabbit holes in the game and the fact that you can't drive your car anymore (your car drives you) just takes away from the experience. Things like your car arriving at your destination and you get out and it drives off to wherever just looks ridiculous. The simpler they kept TS3, the better it would've been. They've added too many new functions and when you use them they're letdowns because they don't work as you'd expect them, ie, you don't see a lot of new functions being carried out. Another example of how they've over thought this game is, my sim lived at the cliffside and wanted to go fishing in basically his backyard and I sent him fishing and the idiot got in his car and drove about 10 blocks to the beach, walked...no ran about a 1/4 mile and went fishing.

Don't get me started on how bloated and pigeonlike the Sims now look. I don't want to get controversial here but I often complained about how little The Sims 2 caters to Black people in terms of creating them but The Sims 3 is even worse. It just has a handful of features that are unique to Black people and if you don't want your sim to look like that they don't even look Black at all. I'm tired of trying to create myself in the game and finish it looking like a Persian. If you don't want to create a Black sim with dreadlocks, corn rows, a bald head or an afro you've got nothing to work with.

To me there's less to do with your sims in TS3 as well. His days seemed mundane and routine and his interaction with his neighbours is very limited. Back in TS2 my sim interacted with his neighbours so much it was practically annoying, which made it interesting. You have to go out of your way to find interaction and drama in TS3 but in the predecessor drama found you. Thing went wrong all the time in TS2 and it made the game more interesting.

I see what you are saying, Chimaera. I think what annoyed me most about TS3 is waiting for them to finish sleeping. OH. MY. GOD. I would have to go read a book or something, because the high-speed really did not go fast at all. Maybe this was due to my crappy video card, but ugh...

It's so hard for me to choose, because there is so much amazing stuff for the Sims 2 that I don't want to miss out on. Yet the Sims 3 is gaining a ton of awesome CC now that people are starting to figure it out. For me I love certain features of TS3 such as the seamless world, etc...but my video card is not good enough for it ._.;; What I don't like is the slow sleeping, and running out of spaces to put my lots. Hell, I love those neighbourhoods, they are greatly detailed and all but I hated that I couldn't put lots wherever I want with only certain sized lot spaces. ><

It's not your video card. Took forever and a year for my sim to sleep too and my video card's new and well over the minimum requirements.

I was playing Sims 3 for a couple of weeks and it was boring. Always the same pudding-faces, always the same "outgoing" interactions (buy books,go to the park...) and no chance for building a cozy, nice home (ok,ok there are more and more good CC out right now, but not even a new kitchen-mesh-set), there are no half-walls,no Collections, there is no weather (extremly missed by me),no interactions between parents and toddlers, no interactions with babies, babies and toddlers are looking extremly ugly .... no Sir, Sims 3 is born, but not ready, so I was happy not to delete my Sims 2 at all and I was happy to went back into my nearly perfect Tillyville-Neighborhood. ;)

I have just read the sad news that D.L. Mulsows "Sim Antics" is closing due to Sims 3 coming out. I'm so pleased that so many of us here, prefer Sims 2. It would be awful if all our creators switched to Sims 3. Sims 2 forever, big hugs to all judith.

I voted both... the reason for that is, that I have TS3 installed at my boyfriends computer due to the better graphic card (and other PC stuffies and TS2 at home on my laptop
But I have to admit that lately I played only The Sims 3... I still have a lot of things to explore, especially now when I bought WA!

I LOVE TS2 :heart1: TS3 is nothing for me, the patterns are so brightly, the Sims are ugly and it looks like back to 1950
